Welcome to the Crop Rotation in Organic Agriculture training.
This course has been designed for organic inspectors, reviewers, certifiers, and technical personnel involved in certification activities. Its purpose is to strengthen the technical and practical capacity required to evaluate crop rotation systems under organic production standards, using objective evidence, regulatory criteria, and professional judgement.
Throughout this training, participants will review the role of crop rotation in maintaining soil fertility, improving soil organic matter, supporting biodiversity, managing nutrients, reducing weed, pest and disease pressure, protecting soil resources, and promoting long-term sustainability in organic production systems.
The course will also guide participants on how to assess crop rotation during audits, including the review of crop history, production records, field evidence, agronomic risks, and alternative practices for perennial and semi-perennial crops where conventional rotation may not be technically feasible.
By the end of this training, participants are expected to understand not only what the applicable standards require, but also how to make a clear, consistent, and defensible certification assessment based on evidence.

The MAYACERT Overseas Annual Training Program is a comprehensive professional development initiative designed to strengthen the technical competence and consistency of MAYACERT auditors, reviewers, certification personnel and decision makers. The program provides practical, standards-based training covering the USDA National Organic Program (NOP), EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848, JAS requirements, ISO 19011 auditing principles and MAYACERT internal procedures. Participants will develop skills in audit planning, risk-based auditing, organic crop production and processing, group certification (ICS), traceability, mass balance, transaction certificates, fraud prevention, nonconformity evaluation, sanctions and certification decision-making. Through real audit scenarios and practical guidance, the program promotes harmonized auditing practices, regulatory compliance and continual professional improvement across all MAYACERT overseas offices.
